Dr Myles Coolican is one of Australia’s most influential orthopaedic surgeons with over 30 years’ experience specialising in arthroscopic and reconstructive surgery of the knee.
Dr Myles Coolican has particular interests in total knee replacement and anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction.
Dr Coolican has extensive international and Australian credentials, having trained first in Sydney with subsequent postings at the world-renowned Cleveland Clinic in USA and prestigious institutes in the UK.
Recognised for his expertise, in 2000 he was Medical Officer in charge of Wrestling at the Sydney Olympic Games and the Sydney Orthopaedic Surgeon for the Rugby World Cup, and since that time has been the Test Match Orthopaedic Surgeon for Sydney events of the Australian Rugby Union.
Driven to improve treatment and outcomes in his field, Dr Coolican has actively sought to expand the frontiers of orthopaedic knowledge having co-founded the Sydney Orthopaedic Research Institute (SORI) and authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and textbook chapters. Dr Coolican is a recipient of the Australian Orthopaedic Association Research Prize. He has presented at over thirty national and international meetings of scientific societies and published over fifteen scientific articles in peer-reviewed journals.
He currently performs surgeries at Royal North Shore, North Shore Private and the Mater Private Hospitals in Sydney.
